Foróige Go Participates in Nordic Talks Series

Alan October 14, 2024

On October 11th, Foróige Go too part in the Nordic Talks event, "Inclusive Digital Societies," held in Dublin City. This collaborative initiative, supported by the Nordic embassies, provided a platform to discuss the future of digital inclusivity.

Our involvement was made possible through our Key Action 2 Erasmus+ Project with Humak University of Applied Sciences, in partnership with the Embassy of Finland in Ireland. Foróige GoVirtual showcased our innovative virtual reality youth work, highlighting the importance of digital engagement among young people.

The event was officially opened by Leena Gardemeister, the Ambassador of Finland to Ireland, followed by an insightful keynote address from Jarno Limnell. Mr. Limnell is a Finnish Member of Parliament, a noted author, and a professor of practice in cyber security at Aalto University, with extensive experience across several prominent institutions.

A dynamic panel discussion followed, exploring the crucial question: "How do we make online spaces a place for everyone?" The panel featured esteemed members, including Jarno Limnell, Nafisa Fiidow—a debater at the Danish administrative office in IT and the Digital Sector—and Ane Breivik, leader of Unge Venstre and a deputy member of parliament in Norway. Representing Foróige, Megan Depinna, Senior Youth Officer for GoBuild, contributed valuable insights on fostering inclusivity in digital environments.

The event concluded with a networking session, allowing delegates to experience GoVirtual's VR headsets firsthand, demonstrating the exciting potential of virtual reality in youth work.
