Mayo Foróige District Council in conjunction with Lacken Foróige Club are hosting ‘Band on the Strand’ on Saturday, 27th June 2015 from 8pm to midnight. This is the 8th year of the festival. The gates will open at 7pm and close at 8pm.
This year we have a very exciting line up with The Academic headlining the event, together with Everyday Solution, Deuces Wild and DJ Martin Guilfoyle from Spin FM. The photobooth, beach soccer and Wall of Compliments will also make a return, in addition to the chip van, popcorn and icecream van. Band on the Strand has been a tremendous success over the past eight years with young people enjoying live music and amusements in a confined scenic, safe, open air venue.
UV Theme
There will be an ultra-violet theme at BBand on the Strand 2015. We encourage all attendees to wear bright coloured clothing to enhance the effect of the UV lighting. There will also be some UV markers which members can use on the night. However, glow sticks are not permissible due to health and safety reasons.
Tickets
Tickets are available from Ann Marie Thompson on 086 3792787 and Nonie McGee on 087 2330820. The tickets must be booked and paid for before Wednesday 17th June. On receipt of payment, wristbands will be given out to each Club Leader on arrival at the event. Admission is open to Foróige members and young people involved in Foróige Projects. The cost per member is €15. Non-members can attend with permission of Foróige groups attending provided they have consent and parent permission forms signed in advance. The cost for non-members is €20. This initiative for non-members is at the discretion of the Foróige groups. Mayo Foróige District Council guidelines apply.
Leaders Facilities
Please note leaders admission is free. There will be complimentary teas/coffees and food for leaders on the night.
Club Exchange
This year we have a lot of interest from clubs outside the county. With this in mind we are encouraging clubs in Mayo to become hosts. This would involve using their community centre as a place to stay. Travelling clubs would need to bring their own sleeping bags. Please contact Nonie McGee/Annmarie Thompson to co-ordinate if your club/project is interested in staying over as soon as possible.
