The Foróige Ballyshannon/Bundoran Neighbourhood Youth Project have a wonderful summer programme lined up with local young people getting involved in art, drama, various sports and even surfing! Yes, surfing is back by popular demand.Killian and Mary Lavelle (proprietors of Turf n' Surf Tours in Bundoran) are offering free surf lessons throughout the summer months for the young members in the project. Turf n' Surf Tours have been offering these free lessons for four consecutive years.

The summer programme enables young people to learn new skills and have an outlet to meet with their peers in a safe, fun environment.

Killian O ‘Kelly says, “The staff of Turf n' Surf Bundoran enjoy giving up our time on a Thursday evening to teach local kids surfing. As a registered Irish Surf Association Surf School in Bundoran we have the infrastructure, equipment and skills to deliver surf lessons at no cost to the Bundoran kids. The 3 hours the staff give every Thursday evening are a great fun way to contribute to the community.

Caroline Cooke, a Youth Worker in the project says, “This has been a fantastic opportunity for the young people in Bundoran. It is by far the highlight of their summer to be able to avail of these free surfing lesson.s We'd like to thank Killian, Mary and all the excellent, hard working staff at Turf n' Surf for all the support they give to the Foroige Neighbourhood Youth Project. They are always so generous, patient and reliable with the young people and they are most certainly looked upon as positive role models for the kids. It’s wonderful to feel a sense of community spirit within Bundoran which the young people very much benefit from."

Here's what some of the young people have been saying:

The staff are so sound and the surfing is really fun!
I get to meet my friends every week and I love surfing now.
