Foróige Tyrrelstown Youth Space Now Open

Alan March 10, 2023

An Taoiseach Leo Varadker TD and Senator Emer Currie helped to launch the brand new Tyrrelstown Youth Space this afternoon, alongside youth workers and young people from the local area.

Tyrrelstown is one of the fastest-growing communities in Dublin 15, and has one of the most diverse populations in the county. The new Youth Space will enable more young people in the area to learn, grow, take part in youth work and get involved with Foróige programmes.

“We are delighted to be launching the Tyrrelstown Youth Space, a much needed source in a rapidly evolving community,” said Foróige Area Manager Miriam Ryan. She continued, “while still in its infancy, groups of young people have already benefited from their involvement which is creating a space for a new generation of creators, leaders and designers from Tyrrelstown.”

The purpose-built space  is for young people aged 10 to 24, and will welcome approx. 180 young people on a weekly basis. It’s a safe place that young people can call their own while empowering them to gain leadership, technology, motivation, entrepreneurship and citizenship skills.

Young people in the new Space can access all of Foróige’s programmes, teaching them valuable skills in empathy, decision making, relationships and health, well-being and more.

The new Foróige Youth Space is located at the shopping plaza in Tyrrelstown and will be open to young people throughout the year.

Foróige Tyrrelstown Youth Space was made possible by DCEDIY capital fund through DDLETB and Fingal County Council’s Community Department.
