Hi there! My name is Breda Maguire and I am the newly appointed Alumni Officer for Foróige. I worked for 6 years as the Foróige Regional Youth Officer in Westmeath. Wondering what the Alumni initiative is all about? Our aims are to reconnect past members, volunteers, staff and supporters of Foróige.

Foróige Societies

  • Promote Foróige and Volunteerism
  • Keep people up to date with Foróige.
  • Support current volunteers
  • Carry out fundraisers for Foróige
  • Organise social events and activities.
  • Develop skills of society members

The benefits of getting involved in an alumni society in your college are endless! You will increase your project management skills, fundraising skills, group management and communication skills, meet new friends and reconnect with old ones and you will also get to support a charity whose main priority is the development of young people.

Currently there are societies established in NUIG, NUI Maynooth, AIT and St. Angela’s in Sligo. Over the next number of months, I am looking at establishing societies in colleges all over Ireland. I can't do this without the help of students in each college who are interested in getting involved. Foróige Societies in colleges are encouraged to work on fundraising initiatives together, which will be lots of fun and a great opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with old ones. This is a really exciting opportunity to keep the connection alive with Foróige!

County Committees

  • Promote and advocate on behalf of Foróige
  • Organise events and fundraise for Foróige
  • Give people the opportunity to volunteers within the organisation.

These committees will be made of past members, volunteers, staff and other friends of the organisation. The idea is that one or two fundraisers will be organised each year with all income generated going towards the programmes and services that Foróige provide.

I look forward to hearing your memories of Foróige and what you got up to under the watchful eyes of club leaders and staff members.
