The European Commission has emphasised the need to embed entrepreneurial learning in all sectors of education and the central role played by teachers through the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan and Rethinking Education Communication. We would like therefore to inform you of a new document titled: "Entrepreneurship Education – A Guide for Educators".
Foróige's Big Brother Big Sister youth mentoring programme and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship programme have been awarded a grant from the Tony Ryan Trust through the Community Foundation for Ireland . The purpose of the grant is to support children and young people in Tipperary to reach their full potential.
8 young Irish people and 3 adult volunteers from the Foróige Mahon Youth Project in Cork were selected to participate in a Hong Kong- Ireland Youth Exchange Programme this summer. The exchange was co-sponsored by EIL and by the Hong Kong Commission on Youth.
Foróige has reached the initial shortlist in the Rabo Tweeties Competition to find Ireland’s best Twitter accounts. We’d be thrilled to win the title of Ireland's best charity Twitter account as we believe that there would be national recognition for the organisation and for youth work. Foróige runs the youth entrepreneurship programme NFTE in Ireland in schools and communities. Foróige welcome this new study which demonstrates the impact of this same programme in the US. This study of NFTE Alumni in the US has been carried out by Vanessa E. Beary, a Presidential Scholar at Harvard Graduate School of Education and Fulbright Fellow. Vanessa has a special interest in Entrepreneurship Education in developing countries with large youth populations.
'Friends of Foróige' in Co. Offaly organised a Barn Dance on Friday the 23rd August which was attended by more than 100 people. The event boasted a barbeque and country and western band 'Midnight Boogie.
Barbara Daly who is a member of the Offaly 'Friends of Foróige group said "I couldn't get over the amount of goodwill from the businesses in the Offaly area ‘It is fantastic to see that businesses in Offaly are aware and appreciate the good work of Foróige in the county."
