The Coca-Cola HBC Foróige 5k was officially launched at the National Sports Campus today. Runners, joggers and walkers of all levels are being urged to save the date. The run which will take place on Sunday May 24th 2015 was launched by Health Minister, Leo Varadkar TD (Dublin West). Foróige in Dublin 15 will coordinate the run and is partnering with Coca-Cola HBC and the National Sports Campus. The route will offer participants a view of the National Sports Campus and its excellent sports facilities. Details regarding registration will be available on Run Ireland’s website www.runireland.com

The race will be open to male and female runners, joggers and walkers, and will be chip timed. In conjunction with the 5k, there will be a family fun day element to the event, with a short run for young people down the “Yellow Brick Road”, followed by lots of fun activities such as penalty shoot outs and face painting.

Leo Varadkar stated, "It's great that local Foróige members are taking part in the Foróige 5k at the National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown. Foróige should be commended for this initiative and I know that some of them have been training very hard for the race as well. I'm also delighted to see the Campus working with the local community to organise an event like this. It goes to show that the Campus is a local amenity as well as a national asset."

Niamh Quinn, Acting Manager for Foróige in Blanchardstown said, “It would be impossible to host this 5k event to such a high standard without the very kind sponsorship from Coca Cola HBC Ireland – a local employer in the Blanchardstown area - and the generous support of the National Sports Campus who are hosting it. All money raised will go towards providing good quality educational programmes to young people aged 10-18 years old across Dublin 15.

A special early bird registration rate of €15 is available until Tuesday 31st March. Normal registration is €20. Goodie bags will be given out to participants and cash prizes are available for top runners, courtesy of Coca Cola HBC Ireland!
